Michael Solo, CFP® CRPC® MBA
Financial Advisor
For 7 years, Michael served in the United States Air Force and California Air National Guard, where he operated Remotely Piloted Aircraft. Stationed in Las Vegas, Michael was a part of a two man crew flying the MQ-1 Predator’s and MQ-9 Reaper’s all around the world. At age 19, on a deployment to Djibouti, Africa, Michael had many great experiences, such as swimming with whale sharks and volunteering at the local orphanage, where he spent his time playing soccer with the kids. Most importantly, this was the start of his fascination with finance, as he met a pilot who taught him about compounding interest. His passion for Finance began with this conversation and he has been fascinated with saving and investing ever since. Michael feels that every 19 year old should learn about saving early and using compounding as an investment strategy.
Since completing his service with the USAF, Michael graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and California Lutheran University with his MBA in Financial Planning. Michael is a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative of Commonwealth Financial Network, member FINRA/SIPC, as well as a Life Insurance Agent. He holds his Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation (CRPC®) and Michael is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
Michael’s favorite area of study during his academic career has been behavioral finance. Why on earth would anybody ever buy high and sell low? By researching and understanding the irrational decisions that investors make, he believes he can work with clients to create a successful plan, focused on long-term, goal oriented advice. Michael enjoys working with retirees/pre-retirees and those planning for major life events. Being a millennial himself, he also helps clients with multi-generational wealth planning.
Michael was born and raised in Yorba Linda and currently resides there after his time in the military/SDSU. In his free time, you will most likely find him at the gym with his brother or maybe a concert with his dad. During the winter, Michael likes to snowboard and loves hockey. Go Ducks! Someday he hopes to improve his game on the golf course. Michael also likes relaxing with his cat, Dray.
